Bajaj Finance reported that its AI-powered bots now manage 71% of its do-it-yourself customer service interactions and have facilitated Rs 2,500 crore in loan disbursements during Q1FY27, according to medianama.com. The company is aggressively scaling its AI capabilities across lending, underwriting, customer service, and marketing to drive growth and efficiency.
During the Q1FY27 earnings call, Vice Chairman and Managing Director Rajeev Jain emphasized the company’s commitment to embedding AI at the core of its business transformation rather than treating it as a mere technology upgrade. Bajaj Finance is expanding its AI team from 230 to 400 employees and adding 300 more to its digital platform team. Jain highlighted that these investments aim to enhance customer centricity, accelerate technology transformation, and strengthen risk management frameworks.
The move aligns with broader trends in financial services where AI is increasingly used to reduce costs, improve productivity, and identify new customers. Bajaj Finance expects its digital platform to generate Rs 50,000 crore in business this year, with a target to double that to Rs 100,000 crore next year by leveraging AI, customer centricity, and digital transformation. This scale of AI adoption positions Bajaj Finance among the leading lenders in India integrating advanced technology in their operations.
Jain stated that the company is confident in building faster AI models that provide insights beyond traditional methods. The ongoing investment in proprietary AI models and infrastructure reflects Bajaj Finance’s strategy to make AI central to its growth. The next earnings update will reveal whether the Rs 100,000 crore business volume target driven by AI and digital transformation is on track.
