Amazon Now has replaced Google Maps with MapmyIndia’s Mappls APIs and SDKs, starting with Bengaluru and expanding to Mumbai, according to MapmyIndia director Rohan Verma during the company’s Q4 FY26 earnings call. This integration marks a significant step in Amazon Now’s aggressive expansion in India’s quick commerce sector, where precise location data is crucial for rapid delivery services.
The integration process involved embedding MapmyIndia’s geospatial technology directly into Amazon Now’s platform, enabling enhanced address verification, hyperlocal discovery, rider navigation, and route optimisation. Verma highlighted that Mappls is now prominently featured in Amazon Now’s app, reflecting a deep partnership. This follows MapmyIndia’s strategic ₹25 crore investment in quick commerce startup Zepto in August 2025, aimed at boosting Indian ownership in the sector ahead of Zepto’s anticipated public listing.
The deal underscores the growing importance of domestic mapping solutions in India’s digital economy, especially as quick commerce companies compete to reduce delivery times from hours to minutes. High-quality location data is vital for these services, and MapmyIndia’s technology offers a local alternative to global providers like Google Maps. The contract win with Amazon Now complements MapmyIndia’s existing relationships with other quick commerce players, reinforcing its position in the market.
Amazon Now’s rollout of Mappls APIs in Bengaluru and Mumbai is already live, with plans to expand further. MapmyIndia’s director Rohan Verma emphasized the company’s front-and-centre role in Amazon Now’s app, illustrating the strategic value of this partnership in India’s fast-growing quick commerce landscape.
