Cleantech startup Karo Sambhav has raised ₹56 crore ($5.9 million) in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter to expand its critical raw material recovery from end-of-life products. The nine-year-old Delhi NCR-based company, founded in 2017 by Pranshu Singhal, plans to scale its recycling infrastructure with an initial focus on e-waste, leveraging the high concentration of valuable materials in discarded electronics, according to inc42.com.
Until now bootstrapped, Karo Sambhav operates two recycling facilities and collection channels across more than 50 cities. The startup works with over 30 global tech and FMCG brands including Apple, Dell, Cisco, PepsiCo, and HP, designing and implementing extended producer responsibility (EPR) programmes for e-waste, battery waste, plastic waste, and glass waste. It has channelled over 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of waste for responsible recycling, the company said.
The funding will enable Karo Sambhav to enhance its high-quality recycling infrastructure to recover critical, precious, and high-value materials. Its planned recycling infrastructure project has received eligibility status under the National Critical Minerals Mission (NCMM) of the Ministry of Mines, which promotes critical mineral recycling. This positions the startup to contribute to the growing focus on sustainable resource management and circular economy initiatives in India.
Karo Sambhav’s next phase of growth will focus on scaling e-waste recycling operations while gradually expanding into other waste streams. The startup’s eligibility under the NCMM incentive scheme provides a policy-backed boost to its recycling infrastructure plans, supporting India’s national goals on critical mineral recovery and waste management.
