IRFC reports 10% profit rise and declares highest-ever dividend in Q2

Indian Railways Financial Corporation (IRFC) Limited, a Maharatna PSU, reported a 10% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹1,958 crore for the quarter ending September 2026.

Indian Railways Financial Corporation (IRFC) Limited, a Maharatna PSU, reported a 10% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹1,958 crore for the quarter ending September 2026. On October 15, IRFC also declared its highest-ever interim dividend of ₹1.15 per equity share, with a record date set for October 23, 2026, to determine shareholder eligibility, according to livemint.com.

The company’s net profit rose from ₹1,776.98 crore in the same quarter last year to ₹1,958.48 crore in Q2FY27. IRFC’s net revenue increased to ₹7,866.41 crore during the quarter. The board of directors approved the interim dividend on the same day as the earnings announcement. Despite the positive results, IRFC’s share price ended marginally lower on October 15 after some recovery in the closing session, with the stock down nearly 36.7% over the past year, livemint.com reported.

IRFC’s performance reflects steady growth in government-backed railway financing amid a challenging market environment. The declared dividend is the highest in the company’s history, highlighting strong cash flow and shareholder returns. This comes as IRFC continues to support Indian Railways’ infrastructure expansion through its role as the Ministry of Railway’s non-banking financial company. The company’s net profit figures for Q2FY27 contrast with ₹1,927.21 crore reported in the year-ago period, showing consistent profitability.

IRFC fixed October 23, 2026, as the record date for determining shareholders eligible for the dividend payout. The interim dividend of ₹1.15 per equity share will be paid to shareholders listed as beneficial owners in the depositories as of that date, according to the company’s announcement on livemint.com.
