The Government of India has announced the re-issue of two dated securities totaling ₹33,000 crore, scheduled for auction on October 23, 2026. The securities include a 6.53% bond maturing in 2031 for ₹19,000 crore and a 7.71% bond maturing in 2066 for ₹14,000 crore, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Successful bidders will settle payments on October 26, 2026.
The auction will be conducted using the multiple price method through the RBI’s Mumbai office. Both competitive and non-competitive bids must be submitted electronically via the RBI’s e-Kuber system on the auction day. Non-competitive bids are accepted between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., while competitive bids close at 11:30 a.m. The government also holds the option to retain an additional subscription of up to ₹2,000 crore for each security.
This auction forms part of the government’s regular borrowing program to meet fiscal needs and manage public debt. The 6.53% GS 2031 and 7.71% GS 2066 bonds offer investors fixed returns over medium and long-term horizons, respectively. Such issuances are closely watched by market participants as benchmarks for interest rates and liquidity in the Indian debt market.
The RBI will announce auction results on October 23, 2026, with payment due from successful bidders on October 26. The auction follows the terms outlined in the government’s specific and general notifications dated October 19, 2026, and March 26, 2025, respectively.
