Arboreal Bioinnovations raises ₹230 crore to expand nutrition ingredient supply

Arboreal Bioinnovations, a Lucknow-based specialty food and nutraceutical ingredients startup, has raised ₹230 crore (about $24 million) in a Series A funding round.

Arboreal Bioinnovations, a Lucknow-based specialty food and nutraceutical ingredients startup, has raised ₹230 crore (about $24 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was co-led by EAAA Alternatives and Omnivore, with participation from existing investor Rainmatter by Zerodha. The fresh capital will support the company’s plans to expand manufacturing capacity, enhance R&D capabilities, and accelerate commercialisation of new functional ingredients, the startup announced.

Founded in 2018 by Swati Pandey and Manish Chauhan, Arboreal Bioinnovations develops proprietary functional ingredients for food, beverage, and nutraceutical brands. Its portfolio includes proteins, cocoa-based ingredients, natural zero-calorie sweeteners, and functional fibres tailored to meet specific nutritional and sensory needs. The company currently serves over 1,100 consumer brands and nutraceutical manufacturers and has powered more than 300 product launches in the past 18 months, according to inc42.com.

The funding round reflects growing demand for clean-label, functional, and science-backed ingredients in the food and nutraceutical sectors. Arboreal’s five flagship ingredients—Pyure, Bioprot, COCOCO, Evo, and Ori—address diverse market needs, while several more ingredients are under development. The startup’s ability to combine scientific innovation with commercial viability positions it alongside other emerging players in the functional ingredients space.

Manish Chauhan, co-founder of Arboreal Bioinnovations, said the capital infusion enables deeper investment in science, manufacturing, talent, and long-term innovation. The company aims to build a platform capable of creating differentiated ingredients for leading global food and nutraceutical brands, according to inc42.com.
