Delhi NCR-based astrology platform Astrotalk has become India’s 133rd unicorn after conducting an ESOP buyback at a $1 billion valuation, according to inc42.com. More than 100 employees sold shares in the buyback, which confirmed the valuation but did not disclose the buyback size or number of shares repurchased. Founded in 2017 by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain, Astrotalk has crossed an annual revenue run rate of ₹2,500 crore.
Astrotalk generates revenue by charging customers for consultations with astrologers on its platform. The company has raised $34 million from investors including Elev8 Venture Partners, Left Lane Capital, and QED Investors, with its last disclosed funding round being Series A. The platform claims to have served over 4 crore users across India, the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Astrotalk’s operating revenue nearly doubled to ₹1,176 crore in FY25 from ₹651 crore in FY24, while net profit rose 2.5 times to ₹250 crore.
The company expanded into spiritual ecommerce in November 2024 by launching Astrotalk Store, which sells gemstones and related products. Astrotalk’s growth and valuation place it among India’s notable unicorns in the digital astrology and spiritual services space, a sector witnessing increasing consumer interest. Its financial performance and international user base highlight the platform’s rising influence beyond India.
Astrotalk’s ESOP buyback and $1 billion valuation mark a significant milestone for the company, which now stands as India’s 133rd unicorn. The platform’s next financial results, expected after the close of FY26, will provide further insight into its growth trajectory and market position.
