Walmart-owned Flipkart has acquired a minority stake in Delhi-based B2B travel tech startup TravClan to enhance its international travel offerings and expand holiday packages through subsidiaries Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel, according to inc42.com. The deal aims to improve on-ground support and leverage TravClan’s technology and partner network to build curated international leisure experiences.
The investment will provide TravClan with fresh capital to expand its teams in business development, engineering, and destination operations. Founded in 2018 by Arun Bagaria, Chirag Agrawal, and Ashish Thapliyal, TravClan supports over 15,000 travel agents in customizing and booking real-time packages, hotels, and activities. Flipkart’s SVP, Corporate Development and Partnerships, Nishant Verman, highlighted the growing demand for curated holiday experiences backed by strong supplier networks.
This acquisition reflects Flipkart's strategy to deepen its presence in the travel sector, competing with other platforms by offering more personalized travel solutions. TravClan’s existing investors include angel backers such as Cars24 cofounders Vikram Chopra and Mehul Agrawal, and Trip.com’s Travis Katz, alongside institutional investors. The partnership is expected to boost Flipkart Travel’s curated international leisure offerings by tapping into TravClan’s extensive supplier network and technological capabilities.
TravClan’s capital infusion will support its expansion in global supply, technology, and destination operations, strengthening its position in the travel tech market. The startup’s collaboration with Flipkart and Cleartrip aims to deliver enhanced travel experiences to customers across India.
