Flipkart’s quick commerce arm, Flipkart Minutes, has launched a premium grocery and specialty food products brand called Pykd, starting with a pilot in Bengaluru, according to inc42.com. Pykd will offer a range of premium products under Flipkart Minutes’ private label, alongside plans to onboard third-party premium brands to expand its gourmet offerings.
The new brand Pykd includes products such as cheese, coffee, noodles, kombucha, ramen, ghee, oils, namkeen, and chips, sources told inc42.com. Flipkart Minutes currently operates 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres across 130 cities, servicing over 8,000 pincodes, with plans to increase to 1,500 centres in 180 cities in the coming months. The company aims to leverage this network to support Pykd’s rollout and growth.
The launch of Pykd comes amid rising consumer demand for gourmet and premium grocery products in India, a trend that has prompted quick commerce players like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart to introduce their own premium labels such as Gourmet, Select, and Noice, respectively. The quick commerce segment has seen significant investment activity, exemplified by FirstClub’s recent $55 million Series B funding round, highlighting the growing importance of premium offerings in this space.
Flipkart Minutes’ expansion of its micro-fulfilment centres to 1,500 locations across 180 cities is expected to support the scaling of Pykd’s premium grocery range. The pilot phase in Bengaluru will provide insights into consumer response and help shape the brand’s broader rollout strategy, according to inc42.com.
