ixigo reported a consolidated net profit of ₹63.4 crore in the second quarter of FY27, reversing a loss of ₹3.5 crore in the same period last year, according to inc42.com. The company’s operating revenue rose 12.9% year-on-year to ₹321 crore, up from ₹284.2 crore in Q2 FY26, though it declined 10% sequentially from ₹356.8 crore in Q1 FY27.
The profit surge was driven by a ₹40.7 crore exceptional gain linked to ixigo’s partial exit from electric bus operator Freshbus. In August, ixigo sold Freshbus shares for ₹36.6 crore, reducing its stake from 25.66% to 8.27%, which led to Freshbus ceasing to be an associate company. Excluding exceptional items and tax, ixigo posted a profit of ₹31 crore, a turnaround from a ₹4 crore loss a year earlier but lower than the ₹44.2 crore profit in Q1 FY27. Total income, including other income of ₹22.1 crore, reached ₹343 crore for the quarter.
ixigo’s revenue growth and return to profitability come amid a challenging environment for online travel aggregators, with fluctuating demand and competitive pressures. The partial stake sale in Freshbus reflects a strategic move to monetize non-core assets and focus on core business operations. Comparable companies in the travel aggregation sector have reported mixed results this quarter, highlighting the importance of such portfolio adjustments for sustained profitability.
ixigo’s next financial update will be closely watched to assess whether the company can maintain profitability without exceptional gains. The company’s strategic decisions, including its reduced stake in Freshbus, signal a focus on optimizing its investment portfolio while growing its core travel services business.
